Arthur Conan Doyle - Tales of Terror and Mystery
Tales of Terror and Mystery
Arthur Conan Doyle
Descrição
He includes everything, from twist endings, bizarre beasts, revenge, ludicrously tense suspense (especially with The Brazillian Cat and The Nightmare Room), several Holme's level mysteries, one worryingly sadistic if not gleefully indepth description of a disaster, and the occassional tragedy.
What strikes home most about this collection is, aside from one story (and a few others from the benefit of more contemporary understandings of biology) the tales are fairly grounded in reality, with the most sick and twisted acts performed by man himself, rather than some crypto-monster of the deeps. The most notable example of this was The Case of Lady Sannox, a new favourite for me, as it is possibly one of the simplest yet most cringe inducing and vicious stories
