"A Family Affair" depicts the death of Mr. Caravan's mother. The whole family wants to have the lady's legacy. The whole story is told by Guy de Maupassant in the third person, therefore it is clear that the narrator is completely out of the story.The work is to be considered satirical, as it describes the grotesque and petty actions of some family members even in the face of death.In fact, these individuals only think about money and don't care about anything else. But, while all these weird characters are thinking about how to get more money from this grief, a real final twist will leave everyone stunned.
