Description
According to Isaiah 46:10, God proclaims "the end from the beginning" and "things that have not yet been done" from ancient ages. Time must exist within God rather than within Him for God to be able to achieve this. If He were bound by time, time would be bigger than Him, and He would be restricted and governed by the time that surrounded Him. If, on the other hand, time lives within Him, He perceives all of time at the same time. As a result, He is all-knowing. Furthermore, He has the ability to be everywhere at the same time, throughout all of time, so there is nothing He doesn't know and no place He isn't. With this knowledge, we can be assured that we serve a God who is capable of acting on our behalf at levels of power and perfection beyond our comprehension. We get a glimpse of God's true eternality in Matthew 17. On the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus, Peter, James, and John are seen. The Father is clearly present since He speaks to His Son loudly, and Peter, James, and John hear His voice. Moses and Elijah have been summoned by God to talk with Jesus. There are elements from three different eras of time present at the same time and in the same place at that moment. Many people have come to believe that God is progressively eternal in order to better comprehend Him. This means that He has restricted Himself to our sense of time and walks into each day just like we do - He has no idea what the future contains any more than we have. According to this viewpoint, God is aware of some events that have yet to occur, but He has chosen to limit His total knowledge.
