In 1893, the Yukon Territory is the setting for Burning Daylight. Elam Harnish, dubbed "Burning Daylight" by the main character, was the most successful entrepreneur of the Alaskan Gold Rush. The main character's story was inspired on the life of Oakland entrepreneur "Borax" Smith. Bringing his fortune to the United States, he is defrauded by a throng of money monarchs and only recovers it at the muzzle of his rifle.
