"The Phoenix and the Carpet" is a "Fantasy" novel written by Edith Nesbit in 1904. The story describes the adventures of five brothers (Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane and the Lamb). Their mother, one day, buys them a new carpet, to replace a worn one. But the boys will find a surprise: above the new carpet they find an egg that opens and from there comes a talking phoenix. The phoenix explains to the kids that the carpet is magical and can grant them three wishes a day... A compelling work, full of suspense and twists.
